The village of Buffalo Grove hosts plenty of events throughout the year. Here are some of them:
-
National Night Out
Various communities in the country observe “National Night Out” to promote solidarity between residents and police and fire volunteers. BG’s annual celebration usually takes place at Willow Stream Park, featuring exhibits from the local police and fire safety departments.
-
Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band Independence Day Concert
This annual, decade-long tradition takes place at the BG Rotary Green every 4th of July. Listen to the BG Symphonic Band’s renditions of classic and contemporary pieces. You can also catch them during the Music in the Park series or at the Buffalo Grove High School Performing Arts Center during special events. -
Buffalo Grove Days
The village’s biggest annual event, Buffalo Grove Days is a six-day affair scheduled on Labor Day weekend. It features everything from a carnival to food and beer tents, live music, an arts and crafts fair, business fair, disc golf tournament, and a parade.
This year, the festival will be held at Mike Rylko Community Parkand will kick off with a charity softball game. Other festival events to look forward to include a baseball exhibition game, car and dog shows, a bbq challenge. There’s also going to be a blood drive.
-
Veterans Day Celebration
The community honors all those who have served the country by observing Veterans Day. This family event includes a ceremony in which a flag for each branch of service is presented. Lunch is usually served before the program, which is often held at Willow Stream Park.
-
Willow Stream Pool Party
One of BG’s most popular summer events, the Willow Stream Pool Party takes place at the community pool. Organizers serve delicious food and throw fun games for the guests. The party theme changes each year, so no two Willow Stream pool parties are the same. Tickets are available at a nominal fee, but pool pass holders can get in for free.
-
Green Fair
The BG Green Fair is a fun community event geared towards promoting environmental awareness. Learn about small steps you can take to minimize your impact on the environment and make Buffalo Grove a cleaner place to live. You can also donate items that the local Environmental Action Team collects for recycling and repurposing – household batteries, CDs, CFL light bulbs, crayons, and books are welcome.
-
Art Festival
The annual BG Art Festival is among the top 100 art festivals in the U.S., and for good reason – the event hosts juried artists hailing from all over the world. Get the chance to watch art demonstrations and live performances. Kids can also look forward to fun activities like the art scavenger hunt.
Free food gets handed out during the picnic and the event also features live performances, inflatable playgrounds, fun activities, and a business expo. BG National Night Out attracts thousands of attendees each year, so don’t miss it.
